The West Side Market

One of the true gems of the Greater Cleveland landscape is the West Side Market. The market opened 99 years ago at the corner of W. 25th Street and Lorain Avenue and its yellow brick clock tower has been a beacon for those searching out fresh food at reasonable prices ever since. Set up as the ultimate farmers market there are over 100 stalls selling a vast variety of foods and goods; fresh seafood, meats, vegetables, fruits, flowers, dairy and bakery as well as many prepared foods ready to go.

My earliest memories of the West Side Market include fruit vendors in the open portion of the market handing my friends and I cherries to snack on while trying to induce our Mother’s to purchase some of the delicious goodies for sale at their stalls. Today vendors in those same stalls are handing my daughters grapes and pieces of fruit trying to get my husband and I to purchase their goodies as well. Those tried and true tactics often work.

If you don’t mind crowds and are looking for a great shopping experience check out the West Side Market. Located at the corner of West 25th Street and Lorain Avenue, open Monday & Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. There is free parking available.
