Summer is nearly upon us!

Summer is nearly here and area schools are releasing the students for the summer vacation break.

What are your kids doing this summer?

Summer camp at local recreation centers? YMCA/YWCA Camps? Boy Scout or Girl Scout Camps? Church camps and VBS? Specialized programs at areas museums or schools? Hanging out at home?

Anyway you look at it summer 2011 is likely to be more expensive when it comes to kids activities than previous years. The cost of gas alone has risen over $1.00 per gallon over this time last year so looking for cost savings is advantageous to all of us.

Planning meals and couponing are two very simple ways to help save the family budget. When you plan ahead you can purchase when the items are on their “best price” sale and use coupons in order to further save. It also helps stop those impulse buys and fast food shopping – planning to pack lunches for the kids will also help save money.
